Handcrafted
Every piece is made at the bench by hand - sketched, forged, set and finished by the two of us, never outsourced to a machine line.

Our Studio
Kobus & Lizeth - quiet atelier, Free State

The Makers
Ruby Goldsmith is a private atelier shaped by the partnership of Kobus and Lizeth. Kobus trained the old-school way - apprenticed to a goldsmith, where the first year was mostly filing, sweeping, and learning to listen to metal. Lizeth brings the eye for design and the conversations that turn a vague idea into a piece someone will wear for a lifetime.
Together, they established a private atelier in the heart of the Free State with a simple brief: to make jewellery they would want to wear themselves, and to make it honestly, by hand. Custom designs, engraving, restorations, and repairs - all under one roof, all at one bench.
Far removed from the rush of city life, every piece still begins and ends with the two of them. They work in recycled gold, set stones they can trace, and leave the subtle marks of the hand visible - quiet reminders that each piece was made, not manufactured.
Created slowly and with intention, every piece is meant to be worn, loved, and one day passed down as an heirloom.
We make jewellery we would wear ourselves - honestly, by hand, with nowhere else to hide.
What we stand for
Quiet principles, carried in every piece we make.
Every piece is made at the bench by hand - sketched, forged, set and finished by the two of us, never outsourced to a machine line.
We work in recycled gold and silver and source stones we can trace, so very little is ever wasted.
Most pieces are made to order or one of a kind - and we treat every repair with the same care as a new commission.

Visit
Created in the quiet heart of South Africa, we welcome visitors by appointment - to view pieces in person, talk through a commission, or bring in something that needs mending.
